B2B E-Commerce / Enterprise Web Application
Enterprise B2B E-Commerce Platform & AWS Migration
Enterprise B2B e-commerce platform involving custom module development, ERP integration, AWS cloud architecture, infrastructure migration, CI/CD and production performance optimization.
01
Challenge
The project required the evolution and operation of a business-critical B2B e-commerce platform while maintaining reliable product, pricing and customer workflows across the web application and the client's enterprise back-office systems.
The existing hosting environment also needed to be migrated to a more controlled and scalable cloud architecture. This required careful planning around network isolation, private application resources, load balancing, security restrictions, deployment processes and production availability.
The application also contained business-specific modules and integrations that needed to work reliably with enterprise data sources, including product synchronization and customer-specific pricing.
Another challenge was improving application and infrastructure performance after migration rather than simply moving the existing system to new servers.
02
Solution
As Full-Stack Developer & Cloud/DevOps Architect, Softphoria handled the application development, enterprise integration, AWS infrastructure architecture, migration, deployment and production optimization for a confidential enterprise B2B distributor in the solar and electrical distribution sector.
Custom B2B E-Commerce Development
Developed and enhanced a custom B2B e-commerce platform with business-specific modules and workflows designed around trade customers, products, pricing and online ordering.
The platform supports structured product catalogues, customer accounts, business-specific purchasing workflows and other functionality required by a professional B2B commerce operation.
Custom Module Development
Implemented custom application modules and business functionality beyond standard e-commerce capabilities. The development focused on extending the platform around the client's operational requirements rather than relying solely on off-the-shelf functionality.
Enterprise ERP Integration
Implemented integration between the Laravel application and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central using its OData-based API. The integration supports synchronization of business data between the e-commerce platform and the enterprise back-office environment.
The integration architecture was designed to handle structured product data and customer/business-specific information while respecting API requirements and application performance.
Product Synchronization
Implemented automated product synchronization between the e-commerce application and Business Central. The synchronization process runs automatically on a scheduled basis, so product information stays aligned with the enterprise system without manual updates.
Customer / Group Pricing Synchronization
Implemented scheduled synchronization for business/customer group pricing so that B2B customers receive the appropriate pricing through the e-commerce platform. The pricing synchronization was separated from the more frequent product synchronization process to match their different update requirements.
Landing Page & Content Development
Created and implemented custom landing pages and business-focused content experiences within the platform to support product discovery, campaigns and commercial requirements.
AWS Cloud Architecture
Migrated the application from conventional hosting to a more controlled AWS-based production architecture, designed around:
Load balancing
Virtual private networking (VPC)
Public/private subnet separation
Private EC2-based application servers
Controlled inbound/outbound access and security-group restrictions
Production network isolation
Secure database/application communication
Infrastructure Migration
Planned and executed the migration from the previous conventional hosting environment to the AWS production infrastructure, covering application deployment, server configuration, database migration, DNS/HTTPS considerations, network configuration and production validation.
The objective was not simply to move the application but to establish a more secure and maintainable production environment.
Deployment
Implemented a controlled Git-based deployment workflow with server-level deployment and production verification.
Nginx & Production Web Infrastructure
Configured the production web layer, with Nginx as the web server and reverse proxy supporting the Laravel application and its application services.
Performance Optimization
Performed application and infrastructure performance improvements following the migration, focused on:
Application and server configuration
Web server configuration
Database/application communication
Request handling
Caching where applicable
Resource allocation
Production infrastructure configuration
Production Hardening
Implemented infrastructure-level security restrictions and private networking practices to reduce unnecessary public exposure of application resources. Public-facing and private resources were separated where appropriate, with access controlled through AWS networking and security rules.
03
Outcome
The result was a more controlled and scalable enterprise B2B commerce environment with a modern AWS production architecture and stronger separation between public and private infrastructure.
The platform continued supporting complex B2B commerce workflows while integrating with the client's enterprise back-office system for product and pricing synchronization.
The migration also established a more maintainable deployment and infrastructure model, while subsequent performance optimization improved the application's production behavior.
The project demonstrates Softphoria's ability to work across the complete technical stack—from custom Laravel application development and enterprise integrations to AWS architecture, infrastructure migration, deployment and production optimization.
