B2B E-Commerce / Enterprise Web Application
Enterprise B2B E-Commerce Platform & Cloud Architecture
Enterprise B2B e-commerce platform built with Next.js and Laravel, integrating NetSuite, secure payments and a resilient AWS cloud architecture.
01
Challenge
The project required a modern B2B e-commerce platform capable of supporting complex product, pricing, customer, shipping and ordering workflows while integrating with an enterprise ERP system.
The application needed to provide a responsive modern frontend while maintaining a robust backend architecture for business logic, product synchronization, customer accounts, commerce operations and external integrations.
The production environment also required enterprise-level cloud architecture with strong security controls, database resilience, backup and disaster-recovery considerations, and a controlled deployment process.
The platform therefore had to address both application complexity and infrastructure reliability rather than treating the project as a conventional marketing or brochure website.
02
Solution
As Full-Stack Developer & Cloud/DevOps Architect, Softphoria led the end-to-end development of the B2B commerce platform, including the Next.js frontend, Laravel backend/API, ERP integration, payment workflows, AWS infrastructure, security architecture, deployment and production operations.
Modern B2B Commerce Platform
Built a custom B2B e-commerce platform around the operational requirements of a confidential enterprise B2B distributor in the renewable-energy distribution sector.
The platform supports structured product catalogues, customer accounts, commerce workflows, pricing, shipping configuration and online ordering through a modern web application architecture.
Next.js Frontend
Developed the frontend using Next.js and TypeScript, providing a modern, responsive and component-driven user experience.
The frontend communicates with the Laravel backend/API and supports dynamic product, pricing, stock, category, brand and commerce data.
Laravel Backend & API
Developed the backend using Laravel as the application/API layer.
The backend manages business logic, authentication, products, pricing, customer-related workflows, shipping configuration, ERP synchronization, payment integration and other application services.
NetSuite ERP Integration
Implemented integration with NetSuite through API-based communication.
The integration connects the e-commerce platform with the enterprise ERP environment and supports synchronization of business data required by the online commerce platform.
Product Synchronization
Implemented automated product synchronization between the ERP system and the Laravel application.
The synchronization architecture processes product data in controlled batches and updates the application's product catalogue and related information.
The implementation includes synchronization of relevant product metadata, categories, brands, attributes, pricing groups and inventory-related information where applicable.
Customer & Pricing Architecture
Implemented B2B-oriented customer and pricing functionality to support business-specific purchasing workflows.
The architecture supports customer/group pricing and related commerce rules required for an enterprise trade environment.
Shipping & Carrier Management
Implemented structured shipping and carrier functionality, including:
Shipping regions/zones
Carriers
Carrier ranges
Range-based pricing
Shipping rules
Transit-related configuration
Status controls
Product/shipping relationships
Regional configuration
The system provides the administrative flexibility required to manage complex B2B delivery rules.
Smart Product / Kit Configuration
Implemented advanced product configuration functionality, including interactive product/kit configuration designed to help customers assemble compatible product combinations.
Payment Integration
Integrated Stripe for online payments, with secure payment processing and 3D Secure authentication where required.
Enterprise AWS Architecture
Designed and configured production infrastructure on AWS with a focus on security, resilience and controlled access. The architecture includes:
AWS VPC
Network segmentation
Private application resources
AWS RDS
Controlled database access
Security groups
Load balancing where applicable
Web application protection
Production monitoring and operational controls
Database Infrastructure
Implemented MySQL-compatible relational database infrastructure using Amazon RDS.
The database layer was designed to provide managed production database capabilities, controlled access, backup support and improved operational resilience.
Web Security
Implemented additional AWS-level security protections, including:
AWS WAF
AWS Shield
Security-group restrictions
Private network access
Controlled application/database communication
Production hardening
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Designed production backup and disaster-recovery considerations around the AWS environment and managed database infrastructure.
The architecture includes backup strategies and recovery planning intended to reduce operational risk and improve resilience.
CI/CD & Deployment
Implemented a controlled Git-based CI/CD and server-level deployment workflow with production verification.
Production Infrastructure Operations
Handled production server configuration, application deployment, web-server configuration and infrastructure-level operational tasks required to keep the platform running reliably.
AI-Assisted Development
AI-assisted development workflows using Claude were incorporated into the engineering process to accelerate implementation, debugging, code analysis and documentation while maintaining developer-led architecture and review.
03
Outcome
Delivered a production-ready enterprise B2B commerce platform combining a modern Next.js frontend with a Laravel backend, ERP integration, secure online payments and a resilient AWS production environment.
The resulting platform provides a scalable foundation for complex B2B commerce workflows while giving the business a more flexible digital purchasing experience and tighter integration with its enterprise back-office systems.
The project also demonstrates end-to-end technical ownership across application development, ERP/API integration, payment processing, database architecture, AWS infrastructure, security, disaster recovery, deployment and production operations.
